Time for Version 2?
I'm starting to think it's time for version 2 of this website. Will be drafting a list of some of the things I want, but if you have ideas, or things that you would like to see, post them in the comments area.
Cheers,

Welcome FredCast listeners!
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, the FredCast podcast about cycling is a great once a week show about cycling. I sent a quick email to the author and he did a great mention of ActiveBody.org in show number 19.
So for all you new folks joining the site from the podcast, welcome! We just started a new challenge today so get your miles/km in!
Cheers,
Clint
P.S. - If you know of other podcast's that would enjoy hearing about activebody.org please feel free to send them my way.

Cycling podcast
Hey everyone,
Hope the spring is treating everyone well and you are getting outdoors to get active! Life here in Madison is starting to warm up and get green and I'm enjoying the commute miles on the bike!
I came across a great podcast show this past weekend that I many of you might like to check out. It's called The FredCast and the author does a great job of putting together a great show. Go have a listen for yourself... it's free!
If you are not sure what a "podcast" is, check out the wiki page on podcasting.
Cheers all,
Clint

Winter Donation Drive Complete!
Thanks everyone for all the donations over the last week. It's the one part of the job of working on the site that I hate the most (asking for money).
As in the summer drive, many users came forward with great donations to the site. I list them on the donation page, but I also want to thank them once again here by listing them again. Without your support the site would be much harder to host and maintain expenses. Thank You!

Happy New Year!
Hey Everyone,
Wanted to wish you all a Happy 2006 today and let you know a what might be instore for 2006.
2005 was a great year for Activebody! Apart from a little hiccup mid summer when the weather feature caused massive memory issues on the server, we were pretty stable and up and ready for users to enter data 24/7. From previous years, this is an improvement. The hosting company we are using now is MUCH better then previous years so lets all thank InMotion Hosting for the great services!
We also had a great year with an increase in users and miles/km tracked. In 2005 we passed over the 2000 user mark and almost hit the 3000 mark by 70 users! We also increased our miles from around 419,000 to just over 621,000 miles! We have users in 52 different countries, and every state of the US! The users also raised over $400 to host the site which is a HUGE help! WOW!
I'm hoping that 2006 will be even better! Here are some of my goals for Activebody in 2006:

I'm hoping that 2006 will be even better! Here are some of my goals for Activebody in 2006:
- Provide a new query tool that will allow users the ability to build and save custom views of their data with criteria and other options. The results will display in a tabular rows and columns and allow users to export in a common Excel file format. I'm currently working on this tool right now and hope to have it in a beta version to users very soon.
- Speed improvements to common, heavily used pages.
- A number of new user based tools including viewable profiles, "friends list", and other tools to help build a stronger sense of community, social network, and of course motivation to get out there and workout!
- Possible site look and feel redesign. There are a number of things I would like to improve on with how the site looks and works. We are still using version 1 of the site, so I would love to get version 2.0 sometime in 2006.
- Try and increase site exposure and user base over 2006 to various publications and other online media.

Winter Donation Drive
Hello everyone,
It's time again to try and raise a little money to help keep the site going. We tried this last summer and it was a big hit so I thought I would give the winter folks a chance to help out as well. I'm not a big fan of asking for donations but many of you feel like it is something you would like to do. In hopes of keeping it simple I tried the "Donation Drive" where we have a set goal amount established and once hit, I back off asking. This seemed to be a nice blend of success without having me in your face asking for donations all the time.
So what are the numbers?
This donation drive goal is $300. Not a great deal, but it really helps over the next six months. That money goes to pay the hosting fees, domain fees, and other small things that help keep the site up and running. I'm also paying at least 50% of the hosting fees myself as I use it for other projects as well. Again, I don't ask for much, but I am asking for your help.
To help promote the idea, there is an area on the site that gives credit where credit is due, here you will see three groups of people that donate to the site; Gold Metal Users, Silver Metal Users, and Bronze Metal Users.
