Thanks everyone for all the donations over the last week. It's the one part of the job of working on the site that I hate the most (asking for money).

As in the summer drive, many users came forward with great donations to the site. I list them on the donation page, but I also want to thank them once again here by listing them again. Without your support the site would be much harder to host and maintain expenses. Thank You!

Happy New Year!

Hey Everyone,

Wanted to wish you all a Happy 2006 today and let you know a what might be instore for 2006.

2005 was a great year for Activebody! Apart from a little hiccup mid summer when the weather feature caused massive memory issues on the server, we were pretty stable and up and ready for users to enter data 24/7. From previous years, this is an improvement. The hosting company we are using now is MUCH better then previous years so lets all thank InMotion Hosting for the great services!

We also had a great year with an increase in users and miles/km tracked. In 2005 we passed over the 2000 user mark and almost hit the 3000 mark by 70 users! We also increased our miles from around 419,000 to just over 621,000 miles! We have users in 52 different countries, and every state of the US! The users also raised over $400 to host the site which is a HUGE help! WOW!

I'm hoping that 2006 will be even better! Here are some of my goals for Activebody in 2006:
  • Provide a new query tool that will allow users the ability to build and save custom views of their data with criteria and other options. The results will display in a tabular rows and columns and allow users to export in a common Excel file format. I'm currently working on this tool right now and hope to have it in a beta version to users very soon.
  • Speed improvements to common, heavily used pages.
  • A number of new user based tools including viewable profiles, "friends list", and other tools to help build a stronger sense of community, social network, and of course motivation to get out there and workout!
  • Possible site look and feel redesign. There are a number of things I would like to improve on with how the site looks and works. We are still using version 1 of the site, so I would love to get version 2.0 sometime in 2006.
  • Try and increase site exposure and user base over 2006 to various publications and other online media.
I think that should be just about it. Until the next post, have a great workout,
Clint
